About American Winds

Founded in 2002, American Winds is the realized dream of President Mike Kolomichuk and Chief Flight Instructor, Denise Hobart.

American Winds is passionate about aviation. It prides itself on personalized flight training and our state-of-the-art air charter service. American Winds Flight Academy (AWFA) is one of only two FAA (Certified 141) flight schools in Northeast Ohio but that's not what sets us apart from other flight schools. You get an affordable, flexible and convenient means of fulfilling your personal aviation goals.

CATS Computerized Testing Centre

According to FAA regulations, students seeking designated Certificates and Ratings are required to take a FAA written knowledge exam. These knowledge exams will demonstrate the student's level of competency in a multitude of aviation subjects. The FAA has outsourced the testing services to CATS (Computer Assisted Testing Service). American Winds is an approved testing center. The knowledge exams will range in both allotted time and question lengths.

Charter Services

AWFA operates Charter Services also. It is a leading charter operator in Akron, Ohio.
